Living in Abundance
Living in Abundance is a philosophy that incorporates how we share our gifts at Sojourn and how we envision our future as a community. We believe that giving at Sojourn should not feel coercive or awkward. Instead, we encourage an awareness of God’s abundance rather than a perception of scarcity. In order to do this, we follow three principles that help to shape our understanding of what it means to support the work of Sojourn financially or otherwise: We give out of Love, Hope and Joy:
We Give Out of Love
Sojourn’s mission statement is “To love God, to love people, and to speak the voice of peace.” In order to fulfill this mission, Sojourn is dependent on the generosity of families and individuals who support our work through financial support and offering of time, energy, and gifts. Offering, financial or otherwise, enables Sojourn to live out this mission by continuing the work of programs like the Community Dreamer Fund and One Village, One Family as well as supporting outside organizations like the Interfaith Solidarity and Accompaniment Coalition (ISAAC), Catholic Charities, Homeward Alliance, and the Larimer County Foodbank.
We Give Out of Hope
At Sojourn, we believe that God is actively at work in establishing a kin-dom of peace, justice and reconciliation. We consider financial offering to be a spiritual practice, whereby our offering is intended as a sign of faith that this kin-dom is, in fact, coming into being in our midst. Financial offering is a sign of hope and a sign of our intention to participate in the work of God in the world.
We Give Out of Joy
At Sojourn, we do not believe that financial giving is compulsory. Rather, we believe that financial giving contributes to the overall flourishing of the Sojourn community, individual Sojourn members, and our community. Therefore, we invite giving in a joyful spirit, knowing that our financial contributions will help to make us more loving and generous people, help Sojourn continue the work of God in our world, and benefit our community.
Offering can be given online or in person in the basket near the back of the worship space.
